Looking Back – Nov. 6

Employees of The Republic compile vote totals on Nov. 5, 1974, at The Commons, where they were joined by an estimated 3,000 to 3,5000 persons in an election night party cosponsored by WCSI radio station and The Commons.

2014

The Deja Vu Art and Fine Craft Show was held at The Commons, which included arts and crafts made from recycled materials. Artists selling pieces at the event included Anita Hopper, Hope Frasier, Bob Blum and Jill Jones.

1999

A dedication ceremony was held for the new Clifford Park, which was built on land donated by Doc Hill in 1973. The park included six swings, a basketball court, volleyball area and shelter house.

1974

Mrs. Marvella Bayh, wife of Senator Birch Bayh and national co-chairman of the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Crusade, spoke on WCSI Radio’s Open Line at The Commons.
