Those who assume financial professionals can’t be funny did not see the Piggy Bank Posse in action Thursday at The Commons.
The posse is the four-member team from Centra Credit Union that won the “Not-so Family Feud” in front of an audience of more than 200 people.
“They were wildly entertaining and very outgoing,” Turning Point Domestic Violence Services President Whittney Loyd said regarding the team from Centra.
Team captain Jacob Evans, along with players Debbie Barber, James Nelson and Kassi Ziegler, took home trophies and bragging rights from the competition.
But most importantly, Turning Point raised a little over $45,000 to continue their work towards the prevention and elimination of domestic and dating violence.
Coming in second place was the Columbus AirPark team, with Columbus Educators Coalition President and CEO Kathy Oren serving as captain, Loyd said.
Other participating teams were German American Bank, Kenny Glass and and Turning Point, vice-president of resource development Elizabeth Jones said. Serving as hosts for the second consecutive year were Mickey Kim and Alan Trisler.
While the number of spectators was down from 275 members last year, Loyd said this year’s audience was very energetic and supplied plenty of contagious laughter throughout the evening.
Other than domestic violence services, some money raised from the event is used to fund two scholarships that will be announced during May’s after-prom.
