ELIZABETHTOWN
Althea Inez Jones, 77, of Elizabethtown, passed from this life at 7:28 a.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 at her home.
Althea was born September 24, 1947, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Anna Elizabeth Wright Hencher, Sr. On November 27, 1965 she married Peter K.R. Jones.
Mrs. Jones retired from SIHO after many years of service. She loved to bowl and gamble at the casino whenever she had the chance. Althea was dependable, selfless and a hard worker. Her giving nature will be missed by those that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her nieces, Amber (Adam Walters) Hancher of Seymour, Misty (Keith Bassett) Sampson of Nashville; sisters, Betty Bell also of Nashville, Lila Wedan of Columbus; great nephews, Ayden Walters, Lyncoln Walters; great niece, Thea Hancher; best friends, Mary Lou Shelley, Ann Harsh and her faithful dog, Monte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Peter; brothers, David Lee Hancher, Monty Hancher and Ronnie Hancher.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and no services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
