BLOOMINGTON – The Singing Hoosiers will present their annual holiday concert, Chimes of Christmas, at IU Auditorium at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
Celebrating the 75th anniversary this year of the Singing Hoosiers, the performing group will be joined by special guests including the African American Chorale Ensemble, Hooshir A Cappella, and IU Wind Ensemble.
This concert has been a Bloomington holiday staple for more than six decades. This year’s show promises to be a festive family-friendly event and will feature favorite holiday songs as well as selections from “Elf” and “Spirited.” The repertoire will also feature works composed by the Choral Department Chair at the IU Jacobs School of Music, Dominick DiOrio, and the Executive Director of IU’s African American Arts Institute, Raymond Wise.
The Singing Hoosiers, directed by Dr. Chris Albanese, have entertained audiences across the United States and in more than 25 countries spanning Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Caribbean.
For these performances, IU Auditorium will be accepting donations at entryways on behalf of Exodus Refugee, an organization that welcomes refugees and asylees from many countries and cultures and helps them establish new lives in Indiana.
Patrons may drop off donations now through Dec. 17 during show nights or during box office hours (Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.). Marked donation bins will be located just inside the front entry doors.
Exodus Refugee is asking for new or clean/gently used outerwear and warm, thick socks for all ages, including the following wish list items:
