A new stretch of People Trail was opened near downtown Columbus, and dedicated to Chuck Wilt, retired director of parks and recreation. With the new addition, the People Trail was lengthened to more than 40 miles.

Columbus North High School graduate and IUPUC student Nikki Bozarth was chosen as the Student Artist of the Month for February 2000’s Scholastic Arts magazine.

The Columbus Exchange Club held its annual used ice skate sale at Donner Center. Many residents flocked to the sale, eager to find a pair of skates in preparation for the opening of the Lincoln Center ice rink.
