A Stockings for Veterans effort is being sponsored by Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th St., Columbus.
From Nov. 27 to Dec. 11, the funeral home is asking community residents to stuff a stocking “for a local hero.”
Community residents may pick up a stocking at the chapel, fill it with gifts for a local veteran and return it to the chapel.
Employees will then deliver the stockings to local veterans in nursing facilities.
Some stocking stuffer ideas include coffee, tea or hot chocolate mixes, Gatorade, beef jerky, summer sausage, Slim Jims, canned or dried fruit, fruit snacks, trail mix, nuts, packaged instant oatmeal, cereal, candy, cookies, canned goods, crackers, microwave popcorn, large print puzzles or books, toiletries, pajamas, robes, hand towels and wash cloths.
