Prep sports notebook: Runners selected to All-State teams

Five local runners have been named to this year’s Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Association All-State teams.

Columbus North senior Neal White and junior Jace Works are on the Boys Class 4A team. North senior Carys Glyn-Jones made the Girls 4A squad.

Jennings County senior Kraedyn Young is on the Boys 3A team. Hauser junior Nolan Dailey made the Boys Class A squad.

Gribbins headed to Hanover

Columbus North senior Konnor Gribbins has decided to continue his soccer career at Hanover.

Gribbins was a four-year varsity player at center back for the Bull Dogs.

Long selected North football MVP

Senior Garrett Long was named Most Valuable Player of the Columbus North football team at the its postseason banquet.

Gino Prescott was named Offensive MVP, Evan Saevre and Jose Ramirez were co-Defensive MVPs and Jackson Haston and Luke Friend were co-Special Teams MVPs. Bryce Harriman was named Most Valuable Lineman, Braylon Thoman received the Bull Dog Award and Sam Perry and Jordan Briner received the #ONE Award.

Max Wilson was named JV MVP. Ashton Schwards was named Most Improved, and Jerry Likens won the Mental Attitude Award.

Slader Elwood was named Freshman MVP. Riston Wormer was named Most Improved, and Sam Kriesant won the Mental Attitude Award.

Lawson named East football MVP

Junior Keaton Lawson has been selected MVP of the Columbus East football team.

Zach Foster won the Shark Award. Noah Hildebrand was named Offensive Lineman of the Year, Kyson Villarreal was Offensive Skill Player of the Year, Eric Duncan was Defensive Lineman of the Year, Jared Brooks was Defensive Skill Player of the Year and Kamden Shelley wa Special Teams Player of the Year.

Thomas Houpey won the Work Wins Award, AJ Tindell was named Most Improved Player and Cam Herron won the Academic Excellence Award. Gregory Craft and JD Rotert were named Scout Team Players of the Year.

Kolhouse picked North girls soccer MVP

Junior Allison Kolhouse has been named MVP of the Columbus North girls soccer team.

Avery Baker and Rachel Merritt won Offensive MVP. Brooklyn Pendleton and Grace Merritt won Defensive MVP.

Emerson Chambers and Rachel Fulp were named Most Improved. Page Mora and Gabby Spurgeon won the Bull Dog Award. Lily Owens and Paige Terry won the Legacy Award.
