Dennis Lane Corum

NORTH VERNON

Dennis Lane Corum, 90, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:55 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born September 25, 1934, in Manchester, Kentucky, he was the son of the late David and Beatrice (Howard) Corum. He married Rebecca Jean “Becky” (Brown) Corum on July 30, 1961, in Butlerville; she preceded him in death on August 8, 2015.

Dennis graduated from North Vernon High School in 1953 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1963. He worked at Cummins Engine Company as a test cell mechanic for 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, cars, horse racing, and watching sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by his sons, Greg (Jeanette) Corum of Indianapolis and Jeff (Tina) Corum of North Vernon, and his grandchildren, Tanner Corum of Phoenix, Arizona, Benjamin Corum of Indianapolis, Kyle Corum of North Vernon, and Kelsey (Nick) Mahon of Arnold, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Delbert and David Corum; and sister, Betty Schumacher.

A funeral service for Dennis will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorial donations in honor of Dennis may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc. or to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
