Family and friends are invited to hear the Kikai Orchestra’s annual Christmas concert, featuring musicians from across Indiana and beyond, this Saturday.
This year’s concert will include a holiday sing-a-long as well as some Strauss marches, according to conductor Carlos Lopez. Musicians from the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, in addition to some from Bloomington, Indianapolis, Louisville and more will play in this year’s concert.
The concert will feature vocal soloist Natalie Cantu and clarinet soloist and assistant conductor Alvaro Bornot. Former Columbus Symphony Orchestra music director Josh Aerie will be the guest conductor, and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra director will serve as concertmaster. Lopez will also be a flute soloist on a flute concerto.
“I am really looking forward to it, playing the flute concerto with Josh Aerie as guest conductor is always a privilege,” Lopez wrote in an email.
The concert will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, located at 719 Fifth St. It will also be recorded and posted to Lopez’s YouTube channel. Admission is free.
