Gavin Harvey has been hired as the new associate director of finance and business operations at Columbus City Utilities. Gavin was born in Anderson, and has lived in Columbus since 2002. He graduated from Columbus Christian School in 2011 and then sought out higher education. In 2015 he received his associates of science in accounting from Ivy Tech; a bachelor of science in business – concentration in accounting in 2017 from IUPUC; and then a master of business administration from IUPUC in 2019. In 2021, he passed all CPA exams and was certified by the state and became a certified public accountant.
Gavin is responsible for analyzing, preparing, and presenting the utilities’ financial data, along with preparation of financial statements and various reports that are pertinent to the daily function of the utility. Gavin oversees the billing and collection of revenues of more than 19,000 water and sewer customers and is responsible for overseeing the preparation of the annual financial plan, which forecasts revenues, establishes a balanced budget, and develops a long-term capital plan for all utility departments.
Gavin and his wife, Kaitlynn, have three children, Felicity, Carter, and Lillian. In his leisure time he enjoys being a basketball fan and enjoys watching the Hoosiers and Pacers play, as well as spending time with his family. He also volunteers for Athens Church, where he is deacon over finance.
