2014

The Columbus community and beyond came together to support local soldier Robert Hutson and his family, whose home was burglarized just a week after he returned from deployment in Afghanistan. Columbus veterans, Indiana State Police troopers from the Versailles Post, and groups from Indianapolis sent gifts and offered to hold fundraisers.

1999

Kelly S. Zeigler of Columbus joined the Indiana State Police, Seymour district, after completing a 22-week training academy.

1974

The Fireman-Policeman Christmas Cheer Fund exceeded its goal of raising $8,000, with a total of $9,500 raised. Toys and clothing had already been distributed to Columbus families, and the final delivery to children at Bartholomew County Hospital was scheduled for later in the day.
