FRANKLIN
Sue Carolyn (Smith) Wood, 84, of Franklin, passed away December 22, 2024.
Sue was born on August 16, 1940 in Martinsville, Indiana to Marvin and Maxine (Sanders) Smith. She married Robert “Bob” L. Wood on October 30, 1960. He lovingly survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Greg L. Wood (Kristine) and Scott D. Wood (Gretchen); grandchildren, Schyler Wood (Jori), Logan Wood, Shelby Wilkerson (Graham), Evan Wood, Keenan Wood (Kayle), and Spencer Wood; great-grandchildren, Saundra Sue Wood, Lillian Wood, Reece Wilkerson, Reilly Wood, and Tatum Wood; and brother, Michael Smith (Shirley). Sue was preceded in passing by her parents, Marvin and Maxine Smith.
Sue was a 1958 graduate of Union Township High School as well as a graduate of Indiana Business College where she received an associate’s degree in the secretarial program.
Sue worked for Johnson Memorial Hospital as secretary to the administrator for 20+ years. She worked for Union Elementary with the ACE afterschool program for 16 years. She also worked part time for Franklin Mills.
She was a member of the Tri Kappa sorority. She attended Tabernacle Christian Church as well as Christian Chapel Church.
Sue loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed being “Nina” to her grandkids. Sue also loved spending time with her friends, especially her elementary school friends. Sue enjoyed going shopping, baking and cooking as well as gardening and canning. Sue was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
