William Campbell, 80, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Deacon Larry French will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the funeral home and again from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service on Friday.

Born on February 26, 1944, in Columbus, William was the loving son of the late Oliver and Genniel (Pierce) Campbell. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Daeger on July 28, 1967. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2023.

William was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church. He served in the National Guard, farmed until 1995 and mowed grass for 25 years. He retired from Cummins Inc. in 1999. William enjoyed traveling to one of his favorite vacation spots, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He never turned down the chance to go out to eat at a good restaurant. Most of all, William cherished spending time with his loving wife of 56 years and taking many trips to the casino.

Left to cherish William’s memory is son, Brad Campbell of North Vernon; daughter, Amy (Cory) Henderson of North Vernon; sister, Brenda (Ray) Suhre of North Vernon; grandchildren, Emma and Laura (Micah Wable) Campbell, and Noah Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Genniel Campbell, and wife, Marilyn Campbell.
