Indiana University Columbus recently celebrated six students in its accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program during a pinning ceremony.

This event symbolizes the transition of nursing students into the profession, marking a pivotal milestone in their educational journey and corresponding with their December graduation.

During the ceremony Dec. 20, students received a specially designed pin that embodies the spirit of Indiana University. The pin features the university’s iconic cream and crimson seal, an open book symbolizing education, and the inscription, “School of Nursing,” encircling the border.

The six honorees are:

  • Katie Downing
  • Mallory Hogue
  • Sarah Knoch
  • Justin LaFlower
  • Jasmine Mosier
  • William Ollier

“As you receive your nursing pins today, remember that they symbolize more than just a badge of honor,” said IU Columbus Associate Vice Chancellor Lori Montalbano. “They represent the trust that patients and their families place in you. Each pin tells a story of dedication, empathy, and expertise.”

Staci Glick, executive vice president and chief nursing officer for Columbus Regional Health, provided the keynote address. Class representative Sarah Knoch shared her reflections with classmates and their supporters, and IU Columbus Clinical Assistant Professor Meredith Stewart led the class pledge.

The accelerated BSN program at IU Columbus is tailored for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field and aspire to become registered nurses. The 18-month program is intensive, full-time, and incorporates a cutting-edge curriculum that equips graduates for a fulfilling career in nursing.
