Kidscommons will invite Carnivale guests to put on their detective hats and dive into the mystery presented by the popular “Clue” board game.

This year’s Carnivale is 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 7, featuring a night of dancing, drinks, Clue-themed activities and more.

As guests come and check in, each will receive a Clue card just as with the game, kidscommons Marketing and Development Coordinator Taylen Lane said. Guests will go through each room and investigate who the murderer is, the murder weapon and where it happened, she said.

“… so, you’ll go up to the front, you’ll make your guess and then you’ll either get it or you won’t and then there’s different ways you’ll be able to guess again,” Lane said.

Guests will also be welcomed by the event’s hosts, Dr. Evan and Bre Russell, Dr. John and Melissa Francis, Frank Husmeier and Melissa Lin, as they arrive. Lane said they will each be dressed up as the characters from the game.

The event will also feature live music and entertainment, food, a signature drink, a cash bar and live and a silent auction. Everything from the food to the decorations will be themed to Clue, and Lane recommend everyone to come in their favorite Clue or cocktail attire.

The idea to do a Clue-themed Carnivale had been something organizers wanted to do for a while, according to Lane. She said they decided they were going to do the Clue theme the day before last year’s Carnivale, which was themed to Caddyshack that year, and have been planning it ever since.

All funds raised from the event will go towards the kidscommons’ budget, with Carnivale being one of the children museum’s main fundraisers.

“This is one of my favorite events,” Lane said. “It’s so fun, it’s a great way to get everyone in the community to come out, have a good time, because we do have our events for the kids, so we do a couple throughout the year, but it’s great we’re also able to do an event for adults, that they’re able to come out and have fun and raise money for a great cause.”

Tickets cost $85 per person and are available at kidscommons.org, at Kidscommons’ location at 309 Washington St. or by calling 812-378-3046. Carnivale CLUE is for guests age 21 and older.
