In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, come with your partner to Henry Social Club for a night that’s sure to leave everyone guessing as the Bartholomew County Humane Society hosts a murder mystery show and dinner.

Titled Cocktails and Culprits, the event will feature a four-course meal prepared by Henry Social Club, according to Bartholomew County Humane Society Resource Development Manager Sarah Ruf. This dinner will consist of appetizers, salads, a selection between filet, salmon or a vegan tofu stir fry for the main course and a dessert. Two drinks will also be available.

Throughout the course of the dinner, a group of actors with the Murder Mystery Company will be acting out a wedding-themed murder mystery show titled “‘Til Death Do Us Part.” Audience members will be able to talk amongst themselves to figure out who did it throughout the night, but they will also get a chance to step into the show and take on the role of a character.

“I think the funnest thing is going to be that you have an opportunity to participate in the show or just enjoy it and watch it. So, if you do decide to participate, you get to actually be a part of it and kind of act out part of the roles,” Ruf said.

Ruf said she was hired as the Bartholomew County Humane Society Resource Development Manager about a year ago, and it was around that time that began to offer larger events like this to raise money for the society.

She said all proceeds from the event will go towards helping the growth of the society. She said it will be fun to see different parts of the community come together to have a fun night and to talk about what it is the Humane Society is doing, rather than just doing the work itself.

“I think it’s going to be a great night to be able to just relax and be out and do something different,” Ruf said. “I know sometimes it’s hard to find somewhere local to do something that’s out of the ordinary, so it’ll give a nice dinner and entertainment as well, and it’s Valentine’s Day. So, it’s not only giving back, but you’re also being able to enjoy yourself, especially with a significant other, treat them a little bit.”

The event will be held Feb. 15 with doors opening at 5:15 p.m. Appetizers will be served at 5:30 p.m. and guests are to arrive no later than 6 p.m. Tickets cost $200 and are limited. They can be purchased at eventbrite.com. The event is for those 21 and over.
