The Columbus Park Foundation began discussing the implementation of a bike-sharing program that could appeal to residents and visitors. The program would allow users to rent bicycles from kiosks around the city and return them to another one.

Arvin Industries’ plant in Dexter, Mo., was honored as Outstanding Industry of the Year for 1999 by the Dexter Chamber of Commerce. Eighteen other manufacturers were considered for the award.

The American Red Cross announced that a record of 353 pints of blood was donated at its Bloodmobile in Bartholomew County, with 78 given by high school students and 155 given by Arvin Industries employees.
