Bartholomew County Public Library Director Beth Booth Poor announced her plans to retire on May 31, with Assistant Director Jason Hatton set to assume her role on June 1.

Gospel groups The Harpers, The Coomers and The Original Singing Sands performed at a gospel fundraiser at the old Hope Elementary School, sponsored by Hawcreek Missionary Baptist Church. Funds raised would be used for rebuilding projects of Hawcreek Community Center.

Columbus native and Purdue University alumni Jim Stith was one of 11 finalists in the Metropolitan Opera auditions in New York City. The finalists were part of 1,700 original competitors from across the country.
