A local Duke Energy lineman was part of a team that placed third at the recent International Lineman’s Rodeo and will now compete in an international event in October.
Travis Vidal, Columbus, will compete with the Journeyman Team made up of Vidal, Marc Mitchell of Noblesville and Chase Nickell of Carmel.
Linemen in the competition are evaluated on performing rescues, pole climbs, tool handling and equipment repairs.
The team competed in the Midwest Lineman’s Rodeo in Plainfield to advance to the international competition in Bonner Springs, Kansas Oct. 18.
Duke Energy has more than 10,000 employees and contract lineworkers across Duke Energy’s teams in the Carolinas, Florida and Midwest.
