JENNINGS COUNTY — A single-vehicle accident Tuesday claimed the life of a 20-year-old Commiskey driver.
Indiana State Police were sent to the accident at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The initial investigation by Trooper Clayton Saltzman indicated that a 2024 Mazda passenger vehicle, driven by Tyler J. Wells, 20, Commiskey, was traveling eastbound on County Road 400S, approaching State Road 3. For an unknown reason, Wells lost control of the vehicle. His vehicle left the south side of the roadway before striking a tree and coming to a stop.
Wells sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jennings County Coroner’s Office.
The intersection of State Road 3 and County Road 400S was closed for nearly four hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
The investigation remains ongoing although speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Tyler Wells’ family has been notified.
Trp. Saltzman and the Indiana State Police-Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team were assisted by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, Vernon Fire Department, Lovett Township Fire Department, Jennings County EMS, and the Jennings County Coroner’s Office.
