Ronald “Ron” D. Cox

COLUMBUS

Ronald “Ron” D. Cox, 74, of Columbus, passed from this life Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his home. Born to parents Alva H. and Norma Baker Cox on October 24, 1950, Ron was a beacon of dedication and love throughout his 74 years.

Ron’s lifelong journey of companionship began with his beloved wife, Hannah Grimm, when they united in marriage on January 29, 1972. Surviving is his son, Christopher (Jessica) Cox of Indianapolis. Ron’s warmth extended to his sister, Beverly (Pete) Grimm of Columbus, and his adored canine companion, Maddee. He was predeceased by his loving son Tony Cox and his dear parents.

Ron’s professional life was marked by an illustrious 38-year career at Cummins Engine Company, culminating in his retirement in 2006. His contributions to the workplace were matched by his active involvement in the community. A dedicated member of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Waymansville, he also shared his passion for heritage through the Greensburg Power of the Past Antique Tractor Club.

A supporter of the Indiana Pacers, Ron cherished every game he attended with his son and daughter-in-law. His enthusiasm for John Deere reflected not just in his hobbies but also colored the very essence of his vibrant spirit. Ronald “Ron” D. Cox will be profoundly missed, leaving an indelible mark on all the lives he touched.

After the death of his son Tony in 2000, his health started failing. A true blessing of a better life was given to him at Christmas 2016 when he received a heart transplant at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Through this journey of over nine years with St. Vincent he was ever so thankful for the care of two special people who he called family. His doctor, Ashwin Ravichandran and nurse coordinator, Kathy Nyikos.

God truly placed these extraordinary people in our lives.
