COLUMBUS
Harriet A. Goss, 94, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Four Seasons Health Care Center. Born on April 29, 1931, in Vallonia, Indiana, she was the loving daughter of Harry L. and Audra Emmons Johnson. On October 15, 1949, Harriet married the love of her life, Robert L. Goss, with whom she shared a beautiful journey until he preceded her in death on July 9, 2009.
Harriet’s professional life was marked by her unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence.She was employed at Arvin Industries and later served as an administrative assistant at Cummins Engine Company. After 22 years of dedicated service, Harriet retired in 1988, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and kindness that touched the lives of her colleagues.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Harriet was a faithful member of the East Columbus United Methodist Church, where she found spiritual solace and a community of faith that became an integral part of her life.
Harriet’s interests and activities reflected her love for life and her desire to engage with the world around her. Known for her wit and occasional sarcasm, Harriet enjoyed reading, family camping adventures, euchre, square dancing, winters in south Texas, attending church and visiting with her extended church family.
Harriet will be remembered and cherished by her children, John (Tonya Galbraith) Goss ofMcCordsville, Steve Goss of Columbus, Marcia (Jim) Harbaugh of Palm Harbor, Florida and Jan (David) Reed of Columbus; sisters, Virginia Johnson of Brownstown and Rita Rice of Vallonia; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn “Sue” and Ronald Wright and brother-in-law, Steve Rice.
As we bid farewell to Harriet A. Goss, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of purpose, love, and grace. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Karen Hargett will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Harriet will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert, at the Garland Brook Cemetery.
