BEDFORD — Jennings County pulled out a pair of 3-2 girls tennis wins Friday Saturday to capture the Bedford North Lawrence Sectional title.
The Panthers edged Trinity Lutheran in Friday’s semifinals, then nipped Seymour in Saturday’s final in the rain-delayed sectional.
Against Trinity, Jennings’ Kaydence Lowman beat Presley Meyer 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Grace McBride topped Taylor Kramer 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Maddie McIntosh and Karmindy Lowman defeated Emily Keller and Cali Fox 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. The Panthers’ Mia Silvey fell to Katie Malone 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Sophia Lucas and Gabi Morin lost to Carson Bowling and Liza Vaughn 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
In the final, Jennings swept the singles matches. Kaydence Lowman beat Gabby Corn 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Silvey topped Claire Combs 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and McBride defeated Macy Pifer 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Lucas and Morin fell to Addison Hunsley and Kelsea Hunsley 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and McIntosh and Karmindy Lowman lost to Rose Kruse and Emma Woodard 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
The Panthers (12-2) will play Lawrenceburg at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Columbus North Regional semifinals. The host Bull Dogs will play Southwestern (Hanover) in the other semifinal, and the regional final is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
