Peggy Ann Daugherty

MARTINSVILLE

Peggy Ann Daugherty, passed away on May 19, 2025, at 4:45 a.m.

Peggy was born in Cannelton, Indiana, on November 24, 1934, to James Barbour and Jessye Scifres White. She grew up in Hawesville, Kentucky and enjoyed an idyllic childhood with her brother (James B Jr.) and two older sisters (Norma and Dora Lou).

Peggy served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict where she met Norman Harber. They later married and had five children. She worked as an Inspector at Cummins Engine Company and retired after 16 years.

Peggy married John Daugherty in 1978. They enjoyed restoring classic cars, and square dancing.

Peggy was a talented seamstress.She made her own clothes as a teenager. She also made Halloween costumes for the grandkids every year in addition to linens and household items. Peggy appreciated all kinds of music and had a knack for finding and remembering the words to weird songs, like, “Out Behind the Barn”, by Little Jimmy Dickens. She loved to play euchre and had the natural ability to save just the right card to win the game. Peggy enjoyed being with young people and thrived on their energy. She was the life of the party and had a flare for finding a young man to sit with or to take her arm. She had a great sense of humor and was always up for an adventure. Her biggest joy was being with her family and her dog Eddie.

Survivors include daughters, Kim Lohrke (Dick), Sheri Lewis (Jeff) and Susan Richards (Andy) and son Neil Harber (Nancy). She had 9 grandchildren, Corey Denny, Joe Lewis, Zach Lewis, Jake England, Fae England, Stacey Doll, (Chris), Crystal Clemmons (Jason) Bryce Harber (Karen) and Alyssa (Kenny). She had 10 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joshua, Addison, Chad, Cameron, Daxton, Madison, Brayden, Cherish and Lilly.

She will be joining late husbands, John Daugherty & Norman Harber, son, Eddie Harber, and grandson Joe Lewis in heaven.

A Celebration of Life will take place with family and friends in lieu of a service.

Peggy will be laid to rest at Daugherty Cemetery in Columbus Indiana next to her late husband John.

In honor of Peggy, a donation may be made to the Cancer Society in her

name.
