COLUMBUS
Mrs. Nina Mildred Bramwell Simons, age 97, of Columbus, Indiana formerly of Jefferson County entered this life on May 25, 1927 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Homer and Ruth Ann Ritchie Bramwell. She was raised in the Smyrna Monroe Presbyterian Church in Jefferson County, Indiana. She moved to North Carolina in 1948 and returned to Indiana in 1999. She graduated from The Indiana School of Nursing at Methodist Hospital in 1948, as a Cadet Nurse. On September 22, 1952 she was united in marriage to Wilbur E. Simons in Black Mountain, North Carolina. They had 41 years together until Wilbur’s passing on January 13, 1994. Nina retired at the age of 70 in 1998 from the Asheville Veteran’s Hospital as a registered nurse after 37 years of service. She also worked for the American Red Cross for 11 years. She was a member of Swannanoa Valley Presbyterian Church in North Carolina. she was proud to have bowled for many years on two leagues in Asheville, North Carolina. She also enjoyed making jewelry, cross stitching and plastic canvas. She had resided in Columbus, Indiana the past 26 years to be near family. After moving back to Indiana she moved her membership back to Smyrna Monroe Presbyterian Church and faithfully attended Chapel at Four Seasons Retirement Center. Nina died on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 3:22 p.m. at the Four Seasons in Columbus, Indiana.
A LOVING FAMILY
Nina will be missed by her loving nieces, Betty Buchanan and her husband, James of Columbus, Indiana, Brenda Kelly of Madison, Indiana, Donita Hancock and her husband, Jim of Lexington, Indiana; her nephew, Keith Bramwell and his wife, Victoria of Madison, Indiana; her sister in law, Marian Martin and her families of Asheville, North Carolina; several great nieces, great nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Bramwell, died June 18, 1947, her mother, Ruth Ann Ritchie Bramwell, died January 28, 1971, her husband of 41 years, Wilbur E. Simons, died January 13, 1994, her brothers, George Walter Bramwell, died February 26, 2017, Elvin Russell Bramwell, died March 6, 2010, Everett Ritchie Bramwell, died October 25, 1998, and her infant sister, Ella Marie Bramwell, died May 7, 1920, her nieces, Pamela Jo Bramwell, died September 26, 2021 and Wanda McClure Stewart died September 29, 2022.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Andrea Lichlyter at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery,1415 North Gate Road Madison, Indiana
VISITATION
Friends may visit Monday, June 2, 2025 from 11:00 a.m.until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
FULL MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be conducted by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.

The Southeastern Indiana Nurse Honor Guard will honor her on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 12:45 p.m.
