STRAUGHN — South Decatur outhit Tri 9-8 Friday, but its comeback fell a little short in a 7-5 softball setback in the Class A Tri Sectional final.
The Titans jumped out to a 7-0 lead after 4 1/2 innings. The Cougars (11-11) scored one in the bottom of the fifth and four in the sixth to make it close.
Lilly Murray went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for South Decatur. Piper Phelps and Raegan Benge each went 2 for 3, and Daisy Martin went 2 for 4.
Riley Benge threw an eight-hitter.
