Officials on Tuesday awarded the bid for a city engineering project for reconstruction of a shared use path along State Road 46.
The Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety awarded the project to Milestone Contractors, which submitted the low bid of $211,434.34.
City Engineer Andrew Beckort said the shared use path will stretch from the Third Street bridge downtown to the Walgreens on Jonathan Moore Pike.
Beckort said when work begins the area will be closed for about a two week period. He added that in some places Milestone will dig up three-and-a-half inches of the path, but in others it will just be milling.
Bids on the project were opened during the board of works meeting on May 27, and were the following:
- Milestone Contractors for $211,434.34
- All Star Paving for $248,324
- Lawyer Excavation for $271,137.29
- Dave O’Mara Contractor for $345,080
An agreement between Milestone and the city will need to be approved at a later board of works meeting to finalize the project plans.
