Robert G. Arbuckle

Robert G. Arbuckle, passed from this life on June 9, 2025, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana. Born in Columbus on December 11, 1932, to parents John O. Arbuckle and Mabel Hamilton Arbuckle Schroer. He married Judith Eckles on August 14, 1955 and they were married for 46 years before her passing. Robert lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and love for his family.

A proud Air Force veteran, Robert served his country with honor during the Korean War, dedicating four years to the military. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and worked on the B36 Bombers as a ground crew member and engine mechanic. Upon his return, he found a long-term career of 36 years at Columbus Regional Hospital where he became a vital part of the Maintenance Department.

Before his years of service at the hospital, Robert was an accomplished carpenter, a trade that showcased his skilled hands and keen eye for detail. He built two of the homes he lived in over the years, with one of these cherished homes being where he resided until his last days.

He is survived by a compassionate and loving family, including his children Sharon (David) Tobias, Dan (Shelia) Arbuckle, Keith (Teresa) Arbuckle, and Ken (Becky) Arbuckle. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Jonathan (Sarah Cross) Arbuckle, Katie (John Ratz) Arbuckle, Jessica (Kenny) King, Casey (Andrew) Zimmer, and Arie Arbuckle, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren Jude, Ezra, and Zion Zimmer and Kalena King. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Judith, who passed on July 5, 2002 and his three brothers Alfred Arbuckle, Roy Arbuckle and John O. Arbuckle Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Garland Book Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Patterson officiating.
