CAMP ATTERBURY — Soldiers, airmen and civilians gathered at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh on Friday to celebrate the Army and the millions who have served.

Justin Mann, the Indiana National guard director of join staff gave remarks about the day before the 38th Infantry Division Band played a birthday song. Mann joined the youngest and oldest soldiers in cutting the birthday cake.

“On this celebration, we not only look back on the last 250 years, but we are reminded of the responsibility we have to carry forward to remain the most lethal, ready and adaptable force on the planet,” Mann said.

Of the over 10,000 soldiers serving in the Indiana National Guard, over 600 are currently deployed overseas. For the soldiers’ hard dedication and selflessness, Gov. Mike Braun issued a proclamatio honoring both the Indiana National Guards and U.S.soldiers across the world.

“For two and a half centuries, American soldiers like yourselves, brave men and women of every background, have answered the uncommon call to serve. You have done so to honor your deep love for country,” Mann said.
