Parker Elmore has yet to play in a game at Columbus North, but the two-sport standout already has found a college home.
The senior-to-be announced his commitment Sunday to play football at Indiana University. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound athlete also had scholarship offers from Kent State and Illinois State and had drawn interest from Michigan State, Wisconsin, Central Michigan, Indiana State, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.
Elmore spent his first two years of high school at Jennings County. He played quarterback and safety for the Panthers as a freshman and the first three games of his sophomore year before tearing an ACL, ending his season and keeping him sidelined for all of basketball season.
Late last May, Elmore transferred to North, but was declared ineligible for the IHSAA, which ruled the transfer was for athletic reasons. He practiced with the Bull Dogs last fall and played in 7-on-7 tournaments in the offseason.
Elmore likely will play wide receiver or tight end and linebacker for North as a senior. He was recruited by IU as a tight end and made an unofficial visit to Bloomington for spring practice in April and official visit this weekend, where he received an offer from coach Curt Cignetti.
Elmore is one of 16 players in the Class of 2026 to have committed to the Hoosiers. Defensive back Kasmir Hicks from Class 5A state champion Decatur Central — which North beat to open last season — is one of the commits, along with Center Grove offensive lineman C.J. Scrifes and Franklin defensive lineman Blake Smythe.
North opens the season Aug. 22 against Whiteland.
