The Columbus Express 2008 Boys team has clinched a spot in the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Nationals.
The Express advanced to the USYS Midwest Presidents Cup final with a 1-0 win Monday against United Capital City Elite from Missouri. The Express will play for the Midwest title at 10:15 a.m. EST (9:15 a.m. CST) Tuesday against Sporting Kaw Valley.
In pool play, the Express beat Schuyler FC from Nebraska 1-0 Friday on a goal from Lane Woodard, then tied the Michigan Jaguars 0-0 Saturday and Des Moines SC 0-0 Sunday. Ryder Meek, who will be a junior at Columbus East, has posted seven consecutive shutouts.
The nationals will be July 11-15 in Tampa, Florida.
