Donna Sue Wilcoxon

LAKELAND, FLORIDA

Donna Sue Wilcoxon, age 78, of Lakeland, Florida, surrounded by her family went home to be with her Lord at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Born on August 20, 1946, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of the late John L. and Wanetta A. Reed Henderson.

She married Samuel M. Wilcoxon on October 1, 2006; he preceded her in death May 17, 2007.

Donna’s legacy is lovingly carried on by her devoted children, Sam (Janie Brinson) Wilcoxon of Columbus, and Angela (Kevin) Stanton of Ft. Myers, Florida. She was a proud grandmother to Derek Wilcoxon, Sidney Wilcoxon, Jacob Wilcoxon, Anna Wilcoxon, Kymber (Robbie) Perkins, Eleni Hobbs, Nicholas (Kourtney) Hobbs, Jennifer (Mark) Hodson, Robert (Cheryl Deeds) Stanton, Theresa (Daniel) Henson, Emily (Aaron) Roller, Sarah, and Grace Stanton. Her joy continued to multiply with eleven great-grandchildren and one more to arrive soon, along with four great-great-grandchildren who all brought immense happiness to her life.

Donna is also survived by her loving sisters, Gloria Henderson of Mooresville, Unice (Tom) Swafford of Morgantown, and Wanda Storey of Martinsville.

Her calling as a home health care nurse was not just a profession, but a vocation that she carried out with endless compassion in Columbus and the surrounding communities. Throughout her career, Donna became synonymous with empathy, comfort, and unwavering support to those in her care.

An active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida, Donna’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and shaping her commitment to service.

Her legacy of caregiving will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of selfless love and the profound impact one person can have on many. We celebrate a life beautifully lived.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dr. Martin E. Wright officiating.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11:00am to the time of service.
