Simeon Wasil has had a change of heart.
The recent Hauser graduate who last week was named The Republic Baseball Player of the Year had planned on going to Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in Troy, Ohio. But Tuesday he announced that he has committed to play baseball at IU Columbus.
“I want to thank my friends, family, and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this opportunity,” Wasil said in a Facebook post. “I’m proud to announce that I have committed to Indiana University of Columbus to play baseball and further my education. I’m also grateful for Hauser Baseball coaches and fans for all of the encouragement throughout my high school career. I’m excited to start the next chapter of my baseball career.”
Wasil led the Jets with a .408 batting average, with four triples, two home runs and 26 RBIs and posted a perfect 9-0 record with an 0.48 ERA and 114 strikeouts in leading Hauser to Mid-Hoosier Conference and sectional titles.
