USDA Summer Food Service Program — noon to 1 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Bartholomew County School Corp. will once again be partnering with the library to provide summer lunch services.

Fairy Tale Friday — 1 to 1:30 p.m., The Lex, 850 Tipton Lane, Columbus. Join library staff on the lawn for fanciful fairy tales.

Teen Silent Book Club — 4 to 5:30 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Chat and enjoy snacks and drinks, then spend an hour reading silently. Register on the library website.

Old Fashioned Independence Day — 5:30 to 10 p.m., Hope Town Square, 635 Harrison St., Hope. Festivities will include the Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Contest, Bike, Trike and Stroller Parade, crafts, games, a cake walk, pony rides, face painting, live music from the Bannister Family Bluegrass Band, fireworks and more.

Concert on the Plaza: Columbus City Band — 6 to 7:30 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library Plaza, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Bring a chair and your favorite snacks and drinks to enjoy live music from the Columbus City Band. Free.
