July 4th closings announced

The following closings have been announced for the July 4th holiday:

  • Columbus city offices and city hall will be closed July 3 and July 4.
  • The Columbus City Utilities Office will be closed July 3 and July 4. Regular business hours will resume on July 7 at 7 a.m. Customers with a problem with water or sewer service should call the business office at 812-372-8861 and follow the prompts.
  • There will be no city trash or recycling collections on July 4th. Friday’s collections will be delayed by one day, and will be collected on Saturday, July 5th. Thursday’s collections remain on schedule with no delay. Please remember to have toters out by 7 a.m. The office will be closed July 3rd and July 4th, and will reopen July 7th at 7 a.m. Visit o www.columbus.in.gov/public-works for more information.

  • All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle (BMV) branches will be closed July 4. Branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on July 5. For a complete list of branch locations and hours, to complete an online transaction, or to find a 24-hour BMV Connect kiosk near you, visit IN.gov/BMV.
  • All Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management facilities (Bartholomew County Landfill, Columbus/Bartholomew County Recycling Center, BCSWMD offices, Commercial Cardboard Program) will be closed on July 4.   • The Republic will be closed on July 4 to allow employees to spend the holiday with their families. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. July 7.
