Unless you’ve read every page of the Big Beautiful Bill (and to be honest, I don’t like that name either. I would have preferred a Decent Common Sense Bill) please don’t be spoon fed by Democrats, CNN, and MSNBC feeding you rhetorical nonsense that this bill deprives American “citizens,” especially the aged (which I am one) and impoverished citizens unable to work from Medicaid and other services. That is an outright lie.
Read the bill. And also,don’t fall for the lie that this bill only benefits billionaires! Billionaires don’t make a living on tips which won’t be taxed on their entirety. And billionaires don’t get paid overtime, which is also partially exempt from taxes. And billionaires won’t gain a dime on the $6,000 per person additional deduction for seniors on Social Security with joint incomes less than $150,000.
There are items in this bill that I don’t like, but if we were to wait for the perfect bill, one would never pass. I think the pros for average “citizens” far outweigh the cons. So I ask that you don’t depend on the media (CNN or FOX) or ranting politicians on both sides of the aisle to tell you what to think. Read the bill!
And as an aside , if the Democrats could solve world war, poverty and hunger, immigration issues, and equality and justice for all, why didn’t they do it through the reconciliation process that only requires a 50% majority in both chambers, and a signature from the President, when they had 50% majority in the Senate (and a Kamala tiebreaker), a majority in the House, and Biden as President during 2021-2023? Why not then? Read the bill!
