Bartholomew County School Supply Assistance Program seeking donations

Bartholomew County School Supply Assistance Program is taking donations for its annual school supplies drive. The program has provided school supplies for thousands of K-12 students in the Bartholomew County community for more than 25 years.

Students enrolled at Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp., Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp., private or home schools in Bartholomew County are eligible to receive school supplies. Program directors are expecting more than 2.400 students to benefit from the assistance program this year, said committee chair of the assistance program Alicia Monroe of the Bartholomew County United Way.

While they can use monetary donations more widely, community members are welcome to donate needed items, which include 17-inch backpacks, 1.5-inch binders, over-ear headphones, Ticonderoga pencils, Crayola markers and dry-erase markers. There is also an Amazon Wish List link on the United Way website where community members can purchase items for delivery to program directors.

Parents and community members can register to receive school supplies for their students by calling the United Way office at 812-375-2216 and registering their students for assistance by July 29.
