    UPDATE

COLUMBUS, Ind. –Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies have made an arrest after a lengthy investigation into a reported sex offense involving a pregnant juvenile.

The victim, a 17-year-old female, identified the suspect as Nolan A. Riley, 18, of 6454 S. Jonesville Road, Columbus, who was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Friday by sheriff’s deputies, according to sheriff department records.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Riley was taken into custody on charges of rape, child exploitation and criminal confinement, said Lt. Dane Duke, sheriff department spokesman. Riley remains in custody at the Bartholomew County Jail on a $1 million bond, according to jail records.

In May, sheriff department detectives met with the victim, a 17-year-old female, and the victim’s relatives, when they received information that the victim had been raped by her boyfriend, identified as Riley, and that there was video evidence of the rape on the victim’s cell phone.

Detectives learned that the victim was pregnant at the time of the sexual assault and were told Riley was the father of the baby, according to court affidavits.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on April 15, the victim was picked up by Riley, and after getting food from McDonalds, went to Mill Race Park where Riley raped her after the victim told him she did not want to have sex. The victim told detectives she has a high risk pregnancy and was told by a medical professional not to have sex, court documents state.

After the incident, Nolan took the victim to his grandmother’s home where he attempted to sexually assault her again as the victim told him she did not want this, as Riley took a video of the incident, according to the probable cause affidavit. The victim told detectives she told Riley she did not consent to the sexual act multiple times.

The victim told detectives she accessed the videos Riley had taken of the incidents at Mill Race Park and the home and sent them from Riley’s phone to her own, according to court documents.

Detectives were able to access the videos as evidence in the case, according to court records.

Detectives obtained a search warrant to search Riley’s cell phone and the phone was seized, but Riley’s parents refused to allow him to be interviewed by law enforcement, court records state.

Detectives were granted search warrants for the Facebook accounts of Riley and the victim and obtained conversation threads between then in which the victim said to him,  “I just wished you didn’t raped me,” with Riley replying “I do too.”

After cell phones belonging to the victim and Riley were examined by the Monroe County Regional High Tech Crime Unit, detectives learned that Riley’s cell phone contained a “hidden file” containing many nude images and videos, including images of the victim, according to the probable cause affidavit. About 43 screenshots of sexual acts between Riley and the victim were found, according to the probable cause affidavit.
