State Sen. Eric Koch to chair utilities study committee

State District 44 Sen. Eric Koch, R-Bedford, will serve as chair of the interim study committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunication in preparation for the 2026 legislative session.

This year, the committee will study the annual reports for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.

“The interim study committee on Energy, Utilities and Telecommunication allows us to take an early look at topics that we hope to address next session,” Koch said. “Our focus will be ensuring that Hoosiers have affordable and reliable utility service across electricity, gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications.”

Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members — eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
