
Former Columbus golfer Brent Loeloff lines up his putt on the 14th green during the second round of the Indiana Amateur Gold Tournament on July 15, 1975, at Otter Creek. Loeloff had a 78 after a first-round 71 to easily make the cut for the final two rounds.
2015
12-year old Charles Claycamp of Columbus took home the blue ribbon and $15 in the younger division of the annual watermelon seed-spitting contest at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair, and 16-year-old Nick John of Kentucky won the grand prize in the older division.
2000
The sheepdog competition highlighted the annual Columbus Scottish Festival, with Hope, a 3-year-old border collie, coming in first place. Hope successfully herded three sheep across a field and into a pen in record time.
1975
Joy Lynn Durnal of Columbus was crowned queen of the National Campers and Hikers Association at the national meeting in Moultrie, Ga. Durnal represented the Columbus Club, the Hoosier Schooners.
