JACKSON COUNTY – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc. is scheduled to close U.S. 31 over Lewis Branch on or after Monday, July 28, to complete a bridge replacement project in Jackson County. U.S. 31 was previously scheduled to close in late June.
The closure will take place on U.S. 31 just north of Uniontown between East County Road 50S and East County Road 150S. U.S. 31 is expected to reopen in late November, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour which follows State Road 250 to I-65 to U.S. 50 back to U.S. 31.
This work is part of a $2.4 million contract awarded to E&B in December 2024. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
