The Columbus Indiana Philharmonic has announced another star-filled season of Cabaret at the Commons.
Tracie Thoms, Max von Essen and Jessica Vosk will be taking the stage this fall at The Commons, bringing with them the songs and stories of their careers.
The season premieres Oct. 9 with Tracie Thoms, star of the Broadway production of “Rent” and ABC’s 9-1-1 television series. A lifelong actress, Thoms’ career has spanned film, television and Broadway, and her solo show has been described by BroadwayWorld as being captivating and soulful.
Thoms’ debut Cabaret at the Commons performance will feature songs from some of her favorite artists including Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, John Legend and Bonnie Raitt. She will also share stories of her long and successful career on the big screen, the TV screen and the Broadway stage.
On Nov. 6, Tony, Drama Desk and Grammy nominee Max von Essen will be on stage, best known for his role as Henri Baurel in the award-winning adaptation of “An American in Paris.” Outside of his many Broadway appearances, he recently released a debut album and has guest starred on television in shows including “Dexter: Resurrection,” “Law & Order” and “The Good Wife.”
His Cabaret at the Commons performance will be a love letter to an era long past. Alongside treasured standards and musical theatre favorites, he will share highlights from his successful career. Billy Stritch, music director and jazz legend, will join von Essen at the piano.
Concluding the season on a high note, Jessica Vosk will return to The Commons stage on Dec. 11 in a festive holiday concert full of sparkles, sass and stellar vocals. Originally getting her start on Wall Street, Vosk has since gone on to release chart-topping albums, host a sold-out solo show at Carnegie Hall and appear in performances of “Wicked” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” among many other roles.
In her upcoming Cabaret at the Commons performance, Vosk will be performing hits from her album “Sleigh” in addition to classics and surprises from Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Sara Bareilles and many more. Audiences can look forward to hearing holiday favorites reimagined with Vosk’s powerhouse vocals.
