COLUMBUS
Patricia F. Ford passed from this life at her home in Columbus, Indiana, on July 29, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on September 1, 1941, in Columbus, Patricia was the loving daughter of Robert W.W. Cress Sr. and Letha May Poer Cress.
On September 5, 1959, Patricia married the love of her life, Hugh W. Ford, with whom she shared a beautiful journey until his passing on July 10, 2011. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Rex Ford of Scipio and Rita Ford of Columbus.
Patricia’s legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Kristen (Matt) Hurley of Columbus and Joshua Ford of Bloomington, and her great-grandson, Grant Hurley. She is also survived by her siblings, Paul (Cathy) Cress of Greenwood, Beverly Cress of Columbus, and David (Sadie) Cress of Columbus, who will miss her deeply. Patricia’s life was also enriched by the presence of many nieces and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Hugh, and her brothers, Robert Cress II and Fred Cress. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones who passed before her.
Professionally, Patricia was a respected accounts receivable clerk at Central Trucking in Edinburgh, from which she retired after years of dedicated service. Beyond her work, Patricia was a former member of the White River Chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America. Her intricate needlework was a reflection of her patience and artistry. Patricia also found great pleasure in sewing and quilting, often gifting her creations to family and friends.
The funeral service was held Friday, August 1, 2025, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Tracy McIntyre officiated. Patricia was laid to rest next to her beloved husband at the Garland Brook Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Community Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Riley Hospital for Children.
