Two new officers are joining the ranks of the Columbus Police Department. On Tuesday, Mayor Mary Ferdon swore in Rebekah Simmons (CPD 307) and Trevor Moon (CPD 308) at the Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Simmons comes to Columbus from Virginia. After graduating high school, she attended Liberty University where she studied criminal justice and psychology. Before graduating with a bachelor’s degree earlier this year, Simmons also interned with the Lynchburg Police Department in Virginia.
Moon attended Edinburgh Community High School and studied law enforcement through the C4 program. After graduating, he worked in the Bartholomew County Jail as a corrections officer until being hired by CPD.
Simmons and Moon will immediately start training with CPD instructors to prepare them for attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in September.
