COLUMBUS
Catherine A. Walston, 76, passed from this life into the arms of her heavenly father on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus, IN. She was born in Enfield, NC on July 27, 1949, to the late Milton and Lucille Henry.
In June 1965 she married her husband, Leonard H. Walston. They led a life full of many adventures. After his service in the US Air Force, they settled in their home state of North Carolina to raise a family. In 2007 they moved to Columbus Indiana to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Catherine enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, gardening and fishing. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could.
Catherine is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leonard Walston; daughters, Tammy (Kevin) Asay of Columbus, IN, and Teresa Price of Iverness, FL; grandchildren, Jessica Gilpin, Michael (Misty) Asay, and David Owens; great-grandchildren, Lily, Skyler, and Peyton; sisters, Linda Batchelor of Nashville, NC, and Deborah Turner of Tarboro, NC; and many nieces, and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Lucille Henry, her brother, Billy Henry, her sisters, Lorraine Sykes and Annette Patterson, and her great-grandson, Cole Marshall.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 1415 North Gate Road, Madison, IN.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in appreciation for their kindness and dedicated services to Catherine and her family.
The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses, aides, and staff at Silver Oaks Health Campus for their kindness, care and support.
