INDIANAPOLIS — Work continues on the Interstate 65 Safety and Efficiency project on the southeast side of Indianapolis.

This weekend, northbound I-65 in southeast Indianapolis will close as crews complete drainage improvements beneath the interstate. It is set to close at 9 p.m. today and reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

This is the final weekend closure scheduled for drainage improvements, INDOT officials say.

The closure extends from the I-65/I-465 interchange to the I-65/I-70 interchange and include the following northbound I-65 ramps:

  • Eastbound I-465 to northbound I-65
  • Westbound I-465 to northbound I-65

Alternate routes are available using I-465 and I-70. Drivers should look for signage along the roadway for guidance, INDOT officials says.

Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time, when possible, according to INDOT.
