Mill Race Theatre Company announces 2025-26 season

Mill Race Theatre Company has announced their line-up for their 2025-2026 season. This season promises to showcase a powerful mix of gripping drama, hilarious comedy and enthralling music through a wide range of theatrical experiences.

The season starts with “In Praise of Sparrows,” directed and written by Nicole Cunningham, where two women find their paths crossing at a pivotal chapter in both of their lives. This vivid and emotionally charged work takes audience members through a stunning tragedy, a gripping mystery and a powerful resolution that stays with you. This production will be Oct. 3 to Oct. 5.

“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” directed by Stephen Planalp, adapts C.S. Lewis’s beloved fantasy novel in which four siblings find themselves traveling to Narnia through a wardrobe. The siblings discover they are pivotal to a prophecy that will release the world from a forever winter and an evil witch. This timeless, all ages story will be presented from Dec. 5 to Dec. 7.

“Shakespeare’s Power Play,” directed by Julie Hult, will take audience members through curated scenes and monologues exploring the themes of power from Shakespeare’s kings, soldiers, wives and parents. For those who are new to Shakespeare, the troupe has plans to break down the Bard while sharing some of his greatest hits in a casual, theatrical performance that is appropriate for all ages. “Shakespeare’s Power Play” will be held from Feb. 27 to Mar. 1.

“The Great Alphabet Adventure,” directed by Emily Nolting, will be held on May 1 in partnership with Columbus Area Arts Council’s First Fridays for Families series. This production follows Alex as he and his neighbor, Zoey, find themselves on a journey through the world of stories and the written word when the power goes out. Joined by memorable characters from his bookshelf, the two embark on an imaginative quest as they find the missing letters of his book before it is too late. This production is free to attend.

“The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals,” directed by Kaley Gatten, is a horror-comedy musical in which average guy Paul’s life is turned into a musical hell when an alien entity crash lands in his tiny town of Hatchetfield. This rated R production will be held Mar. 23 to Mar. 24.

The season concludes with “Spongebob Squarepants,” directed by Kevin Earnest, from July 16 to July 19. When the underwater town of Bikini Bottom is threatened by a volcano, Spongebob and his friends must band together to save the day with courage, friendship and a whole lot of heart.

Tickets for all productions are available now at millracetheatre.org. Season tickets cost $90 per person for five paid shows.

Mill Race Theatre Company is also offering a Family Pack for the first time for this season’s family friendly shows, which include “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “The Great Alphabet Adventure” and “Spongebob Squarepants.” The Family Pack costs $40 per person for two paid shows.

In addition to these main stage productions, Mill Race Theatre Company will be offering a variety of educational opportunities, special events and community outreach initiatives designed to engage and inspire audiences throughout the year, the release says.
