Bull Dogs shock reigning Class A champ Trinity

SEYMOUR — Defending Class A state champion Trinity Lutheran won the first set Tuesday, but visiting Columbus North rallied for a 15-25, 27-25, 25-22, 25-22 volleyball victory.

Karen Dutro recorded 17 kills, two solo and three assist blocks and two aces; and Lexi Denny had 32 assists and two aces to lead the Bull Dogs (5-2). Morgan Osborn notched 31 digs.

Also for North, Sydney Ousley and Tania Madonado each pounded 10 kills, and Denny tallied three block assists and 20 digs. Osborn posted three assists, Elaina Penrod had one solo and one assist block, Kaitlyn Olivo contributed one solo block and Rori Pollert added nine digs.

Rachel Bonde recorded 15 kills, four blocks and three aces; and Bella Wehmiller had 34 assists and 16 digs to lead the Cougars (4-3). Wehmiller also pounded four kills, Zoey Dulaney had two blocks and Maddie Adams and Emmy Price each notched 15 digs.
