BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East lost in controversial fashion Tuesday night when host Bloomington North scored with about a minute remaining to claim a 2-1 boys soccer victory.
Olympians coach Sam LaVelle said a second soccer ball was on the field, and the assistant referee put up his flag to stop play. LaVelle said everyone on the field stopped except a player who kicked the ball in the net, and the head referee allowed the goal.
Ryan Turner scored the goal for East (1-2) off an assist from Farid Garcia Renteria.
