NORTH VERNON — Jennings County Sheriff deputies and a school resource officer investigated and arrested a North Vernon man for being a sexually violent predator who reportedly had been on school property.
School Resource Officer Alex Campbell was recently made aware that a male subject, Brandon Strickland, 32, of North Vernon, who is listed as a Sexually Violent Predator, had entered on to a school property, deputies said. This incident did occur while school was not in session, and no children were present.
The male subject had already left the premises, but after an investigation, SRO Campbell completed a case and submitted it to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office for review, and a warrant was issued.
While searching for Strickland, deputies learned that he had recently changed his address on his Sexual Registry to an address he he had not lived at for at least nine months.
On Tuesday, Chief Deputy Cody Low located Strickland behind a local business, and placed him into custody without further incident. Strickland was then transported to the Jennings County Jail where he is being held on the following charges:
— Warrant for Unlawful Entry of School Property by a Serious Sex Offender- Level 6 felony
— Failure to Register as a Sex Offender- Level 6 felony
